Prudential Ride London 2018 – route, map, finish times, road closures and dates

THE Prudential Ride London event takes place this weekend with more than 100,000 riders expected to take to the streets.

Here’s the lowdown on what’s happening and what roads and routes to avoid.

When is Prudential Ride London and what is it?

Prudential Ride London is seen as the world’s greatest festival of cycling.

This year’s event – the sixth of its kind – is taking place this weekend.

More than 100,000 professional and amateur riders are expected to take part across seven separate events across the capital.

Dozens of roads are set to be closed in central London on Saturday July 28 and across most of London and Surrey on Sunday July 29.

What are the ride timings?

The event is split into seven events over two days. The approximate timings of each event are listed below.

  • Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle: Saturday 28 July 2018, 09:00-16:00
  • Prudential RideLondon Classique: Saturday 28 July 2018, 17:00-18:45
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100: Sunday 29 July 2018, 05:45-17:30 (approx)
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46: Sunday 29 July 2018, 09:00-13:00 (approx)
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 19: Sunday 29 July 2018, 14:30-17:30 (approx)
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic: Sunday 29 July 2018, 13:40-18:20 (approx)

What routes will result in road closures?

London and Surrey will see a whole host of road closures this weekend.

Some areas will see roads closing from 4am on Saturday until the early hours of Monday, while others will employ rolling road closures instead.

Below are the times for each road affected over the cycling weekend.

Saturday July 28 2018 – Central London

Sunday July 29 2018 – Kingston, Merton & Wandsworth

Sunday July 29 2018 – East London

Sunday July 29 2018 – Richmond & Kingston

Sunday July 29 2018 – Surrey
