Goats were purchased to help the side deal with their debts, by providing another income for the club

They have now sold 18 members of their youth squad for around £2,000 and used the money to buy ten of the animals.

Gulspor, based in southern city Isparta, plan to sell the goats’ milk and meat – and increase their flock to 140 by 2024.

Club president Kenan Buyuklelbleb said: “We got ten goats, and they will be a source of income for us.

“We will benefit society by producing meat.  I expect the goats to make a profit, and we aim to have 140 of them in six years’ time.

“We need a continuous source of income, but we have no government or corporate support.”

Manchester City legend Shaun Goater and ex-Liverpool star Christian Ziege – whose surname translates as goat – may now be tempted to lend the Turkish club their support.
