THIS is the dramatic moment moped thugs fled a smoke-filled watch shop after attempting to rob it in front of terrified customers.
Six raiders riding three bikes targeted the store in the Brent Cross shopping centre in North West London at 7pm last night.
Footage shows a huge axe on the floor just yards from the shop which was filling up with smoke following the raid.
Police and shoppers tried to chase after the thieves and cops have today confirmed they arrested two men on conspiracy to rob.
One of the motorbikes was seen on the floor in the shopping centre as panicked onlookers tried to sprint away from the scene.
Cops are still hunting the four other suspects who fled the scene on two motorcycles and it is unclear whether anything was stolen.
Eyewitness Gavin Henderson said that one of the men was holding “what looked like a pick axe”.
He wrote on Twitter: “Scenes at Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
“Man rode a motorbike into the shopping centre holding what looks like a pick axe!!
“Man ran off, bike left in concourse, no one attacked, police on scene immediately.”
According to Mr Henderson, the police had “dogs there on scene straight away.”
A male officer sustained a head injury which is not believed to serious and is receiving treatment in hospital.
Another officer, a female aged in her 50s, sustained an arm injury and was assessed in the shopping centre by the London Ambulance Service.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers intervened and arrested two of the suspects. One of the males was taken to hospital suffering injuries, which are believed to be minor.
“The second male was taken into custody at a north London police station. Both were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.

“The four other suspects made off on two motorcycles. Urgent enquiries are underway to trace them. We await confirmation of whether anything was stolen.”
It comes one month after a moped gang armed with knives and acid threatened motorists before stealing jewellery worth £100,000 in a daylight raid in Wimbledon Village, South West London.
In June a moped gang targeted a woman and her three-year-old child but were chased off by men brandishing scaffolding poles.
